I worked on this project during my internship with the team at Ishan Khosla design.

This project is a tribute to the fading flower markets of Delhi.
In India, garlands made of flowers is given to guests to wear around their necks and make them feel welcome. Keeping this in mind, we created scarves for the guests at an event, with prints inspired by the flower markets.

We worked on a variety of designs - a unique one for each guest. This image shows the design process.
1. Starting at the very beginning, we took actual photographs at the various flower markets.
2. The pictures were then edited and we experimented with effects to create something we could develop further.
3. The images were cut out and made into a motif that resembled a flower. There were different kinds of images like people holding and carrying flowers (see the scarf below).
4. We used the motifs to create patterns for the scarf. We even used just the cut out to create certain patterns - like zig zags and kaleidoscopic patterns. There was a lot of experimenting with color and scale till we finally liked what it looked like.
5. Then, digital printing on silk fabric.
6. Finally the stitching was done and the scarves were ready.
